‘The Wading’

Sanur beach

“The Wading”

I watched you from the shore, some time ago
Before the salt winds came and swept my head.
The waves lapped up our memories, to and fro.

The rhythms syncopate into a flow
And darkness stirs dream visions I’ve misread.
I watched you from the shore, some time ago.

Dry screeching echoes of a dying crow
Are mute to night, when all that’s real has fled.
The waves lapped up our memories, to and fro.

Fall weary to the dream, mind sure and slow
To find my way to you, I gently tread.
I watched you from the shore, some time ago.

Of all the places I have come to know
None pulls on me as dear as ocean bed.
The waves lapped up our memories, to and fro.

To sleep before you weep, obscure the woe
Remembrance dangles on a tangled thread.
I watched you from the shore, some time ago.
The waves lapped up our memories, to and fro.
